The Morrigan

Description

I drew a Morrigan :D

Celtic goddess of battle, strife, fertility, and sovereignty. My favorite celtic deity and she's got some fun legends behind her as well.

And one of her forms is the crow. And I love crows x3

I was experimenting. I'm beginning to like drawing humans more than furries at this point I think. Maybe it's the style -- I like digital painting more than drawing line art by far. Surprisingly, it hakes about 6 hours less than a line arted piece. It also helps me maintain the fluidity that I have in sketches....... I think that's what makes other people like it more too. I've been told by multiple people that I should just leave a sketch as-is and not finish it because what I spent 10 minutes on looks better than what I spent 15 hours on, and that's one of the most depressing things ever. Especially when I almost kind of like the final results until they say that. They say that it looks better because it seems less bound and the sketches feel more 'free,' and with this line-less painting style it really carries over (in my opinion).

If you've noticed, I do stick to drawing female faces (half faces) in almost all my human drawings so far, and it is a conscious decision -- I'm practicing the actual art of color blending and atmosphere and anatomy of a face before taking on the bigger endeavor of a whole body. Once I feel comfortable with the half-faces I'll move on to whole faces and work with symmetry and expression, and from there I'll move on to textures of fabric and stuff for busts, and on to full bodies.

If you want a fun little progression of my work with this style, here was my first human faces in this style --
Where I didn't know how to draw eyes or lips and just covered them up xD
Where I attempted it and ended up drawing some alien-like monster
Where I attempted to draw like this again, but looked at what was wrong with the last drawing and focused on fixing it; While this one looks best compared to the others, the lips are still unnatural and I gave up on drawing her eyes and just made them closed xD
Where I decided to try drawing eyes and a mouth and including her ears. The hair is significantly better (as are the leaves), but it still looks too rough and unblended.

For this picture I wanted to get better at mouths and skin, along with drawing an eye that looked like a realish eye. I played with color theory a little too. I know her nose is still too wide (noses! AAGH!), and her mouth is a little too small, but I'm getting better at the rest P:

Any suggestions that you guys have for me? :3
